Pine

A widely used softwood harvested from conebearing evergreen trees native to most of the Northern Hemisphere.

White pine lumber is soft, fine-textured wood, white in colour when freshly planed. It fades with time to a warm yellow colour, and it was (and still is) greatly favoured for inexpensive furniture.

Yellow pine has more distinct grain lines and is harder. It was not widely used as lumber for furniture.
