George Hepplewhite

A cabinet and chair maker and one of the three best known English furniture makers of the 18th century.

Although no pieces made by Hepplewhite are known to exist, he produced a distinctive style of light, elegant furniture including the shield back chair. His work was fashionable in the last quarter of the 18th Century.
