Thomas Chippendale

An English cabinetmaker, born in Yorkshire in 1718 he became one of the most famous furniture designers of the 18th century. He moved to London where his work found a ready market. Furniture bearing his name is still produced although often designs in the style of Chippendale owe little to his original work.
